The recommended way: we handle the entire Meta side for you. There's also a self-serve path below, for teams who'd rather manage it themselves.
Any number not already registered on WhatsApp Business (or one you're willing to migrate) works. You don't need a Meta Business Manager, a WhatsApp Business Account, or anything else set up in advance - we create all of that on our side.
From Settings → WhatsApp in your dashboard, click "Request a connection" and tell us the number. We'll set up the WhatsApp Business Account, generate the credentials, and subscribe the webhook - all on our own Meta app, nothing for you to configure.
Go to Settings → WhatsAppMeta requires a one-time verification code sent to the number itself (SMS or a voice call) before it can send/receive on WhatsApp - we'll reach out if we need you to relay that code to us during setup.
Once we confirm it's live, send a WhatsApp message to your business number from your own phone. It should appear in AutoWhats' Conversations dashboard within a few seconds.
For teams who'd rather keep their own Meta Business Manager and generate their own token. You still don't need to create your own Meta app - Meta apps can be shared across Business Managers, so a token generated against AutoWhats' own app works just as well once it's granted access to your WABA.
In WhatsApp Manager, create (or open) your WhatsApp Business Account and add the phone number you want to use. This step doesn't involve any Meta app at all - a WABA and a number are independent of any app.
Open WhatsApp ManagerFind your Business Manager ID (Business Settings → Business Info) and open a support ticket under "WhatsApp setup" with it. We'll grant that Business Manager access to AutoWhats' own Meta app - a one-time step on our side, usually done within a day.
Back in WhatsApp Manager, open your WhatsApp Business Account - it has a WhatsApp Business Account ID (WABA ID), and the number itself has its own Phone Number ID. Both are shown on the account/number overview pages. You'll need both in step 5.
Once we've confirmed access is shared (step 2), go to Business Settings → Users → System Users, create (or reuse) a system user, assign it to your WhatsApp Business Account with full control, then generate a token for it - AutoWhats' app should now appear in the app picker - with the whatsapp_business_messaging and whatsapp_business_management permissions set to never expire. (A token from the API Setup test page instead expires in 24 hours - not useful for a live bot.)
Back in AutoWhats, go to Settings → WhatsApp and open "Already have your own WABA and token?", fill in the WABA ID, Phone Number ID, and access token from steps 3-4, then Save. AutoWhats automatically subscribes to the WABA's webhooks and registers the phone number on the Cloud API at that point - there is no separate webhook URL for you to configure anywhere in Meta's console.
If Meta rejects either step (an expired token, or a number that still needs verifying), the Settings page will show exactly what failed after you save, so you know what to fix and can just save again.
Send a WhatsApp message to your business number from your own phone. It should appear in AutoWhats' Conversations dashboard within a few seconds.
